California user sues Apple for iPhone 4′s ‘glassgate’.
Apple promises the glass that adorns the iPhone 4 in the front and back is “20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic” and is pretty much “ultra-durable”; however, Donald LeBuhn begs to…ah no, sues to disagree.
LeBuhn, who is a California resident, was surprised when he found out that his iPhone 4′s glass had shattered after his daughter accidentally dropped the phone while sending an SMS. Pretty fragile for the promised He-Man glass, no? The issue isn’t a new one, and is well documented. A survey recently revealed that iPhone 4 owners were seeing 82% more screen breaks than previous iPhone versions. The survey was conducted on more than 20,000 iPhones and also found that more than 15% of people who buy the iPhone 4 will experience the heart-crunching sound of iPhone 4′s glasses shattering on the ground, maybe in slow motion.
LeBuhn in his lawsuit says, ” Apple has failed to warn and continues to sell this product with no warning to customers that the glass housing is defective.” He is now asking Apple to not only compensate him, but everyone who has ever had their iPhone 4 refurbished due to the issue.
