Protect your BlackBerry Torch 9800.

We’ve looked at a few ZAGG skins and body armours in the past for various devices and today we have one for the BlackBerry Torch which is certainly the hottest selling BlackBerry in the region this season. Yougearstore was kind enough to send us their invisibleSHIELD Full Body Kit for Torch 9800.

Packaged professionally like all other ZAGG products that we’ve looked at the invisibleSHIELD comes with a cleaning cloth to wipe your device with prior to installation, the application solution spray and a squeegee to remove bubbles after installation.

The invisibleSHIELD itself comes on two separate papers and you realize the battle ahead of you as soon as you look at the thirteen different parts that its made up of. I’m assuming that due to the complex design and curves on the Torch 9800, ZAGG probably didn’t have much choice in reducing the number of parts.

While the larger parts of the invisibleSHIELD, such as the one for the screen and the back cover are relatively easy to install, it becomes extremely tricky to install it on the sides of your Torch where the volume buttons and the USB connector reside. I gave up after three unsuccessful attempts to align the invisibleSHIELD properly.

Although its important to protect your valuable investment, it should not be this hard. We had no issues applying ZAGG to out iPhone or the HTC Desire Z. Again, I’m assuming, that its the relatively complex design of the Torch 9800 that has made ZAGG split the invisibleSHIELD into so many parts. Also keep in mind that adding the invisibleSHIELD will add to the thickness of the device- as minimal as it may be.

My suggestion is to simply go for the front touch screen protection instead of the full kit. That was the first part I applied and it didn’t take me more than a minute to do so. The screen is the most important and fragile component of most touch-screen based Smartphones and protecting that is winning half the battle.
