Windows XP continues its decline, sinks to 50% market share.
Windows 7 has been a stupendous success for Microsoft, with it not only garnering praises from all quarters, but matching it equally with sales. Windows 7 took over 10% of the market share in just three months after its release, and surpassed Vista in August.
Now, according to statscounter.com, Window 7 has managed to cross 25% of total market share, all with just over a year after its release. On the other hand, Windows XP is seeing a steady decline with shares sinking to 50%.
By October 2010, Windows 7 had already sold over 240 million licenses, and Microsoft hopes to deliver another 300 million before the end of this year. Microsoft is also busy preparing the first service pack for Windows 7 which should help boost sales even further.
