To be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Feb.

If recent reports are to be believed, the rumored Playstation Phone will be in stores by April next year.

According to Pocket-lint, we will finally get a better look at the Android-powered gaming device when Sony launches it in the Mobile World Congress event in February. That is a departure from the previous rumors which had the launch at the CES Show next month instead.

“Sony Ericsson is going big on this one”, the site’s source apparently said, “but although it will get a Feb launch, it won’t be in shops until April.”

Dubbed the Sony Ericsson Z1, the device will be a 4″ touch screen, run on Android and have the usual PSP buttons and sticks.

Do you think it will include a chip better suited for 3D performance than a PowerVR? Such as the nvidia tegra 2 SOC?

It has to- my guess would be that it would have something even more special than just a tegra 2. Otherwise, why would anyone buy this over, say, the Optimus 2X?

It’s unclear, though the PSP2 is rumored to have a PowerVR chip. Sony will have to differentiate PSP2 from PS Phone, after all. For all we know PS Phone may be just aimed at the casual market like the Apple iPhone is currently (and which it is slowly coming out of with releases like RAGE HD and Infinity Blade).
