Press release:
Kingston Digital Europe Ltd, an affiliate of Kingston Technology Company Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the launch of its Kingston SSDNow S100 solid state drive (SSD) range. The new Kingston S100 range provides the general non-PC and embedded systems markets with a cost effective and easy to deploy platform. Unlike hard disk drive (HDD) solutions, the S100 drives deliver 24/7 reliability in the toughest operating environments, while improving the overall performance of computerised equipments.

The new Kingston S100 range is principally designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and system integrators in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, transportation and technology, where high reliability and low costs are critical. By offering a standard SATA interface, as found in many industrial and manufacturing applications, Kingston’s S100 drives can replace failure prone hard disk drives (HDDs) without the additional costs of developing custom-built platforms using SD and CF memory cards.

With no moving parts, SSDs can withstand intense shock and heat making this technology a viable alternative for limited power and cooling environments.

“Customers have highlighted the ongoing challenges of HDD failure rates and compatibility issues with SD memory cards,” said Antoine Harb, Business Development Manager, Kingston. “Extending SSD technology into these industrial and embedded environments, not only addresses these challenges, but offers the opportunity to realise strong ROI”.

With a 2.5” form factor, the new Kingston SSDNow S100 is available in 8GB and 16GB capacities.
