HP is gearing up to unveil a new Palm tablet at the Consumer Electronics Show next year, if recent rumors are to be believed.
The PalmPad, as it is called, will come in three flavors, with the primary different being disk space. A fourth version may be in the works, specifically designed for university students showing “how versatile the machines can be.”
The PalmPad is rumored to have similar features to the Apple iPad. It will run on Sprint’s 4G network, featuring a mini-HDMI port, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, as well as a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera; both the cameras will make use of LED flashes. Physical dimensions are unknown, however, it is rumored that the device will be as large as the 9.7″ iPad; the university model will be slightly smaller at 8.9″. The tablet will also be thinner than the iPad, with rounded edges similar to an Amazon Kindle.
HP PalmPad will be available in March of 2011, with the university edition being in Fall of 2010.
