Etisalat participates in 3rd interpol’s Group of Experts Meeting

Etisalat today announced its participation in the 3rd INTERPOL’s Group of Experts Meeting on IT Crime – MENA Region, an event organized by Dubai Police. The event aims to enhance coordination and collaboration efforts and procedures among the region’s law enforcement organizations and INTERPOL members of MENA Region. The two day conference is hosted for the first time by the General Department of the Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police, in cooperation with Dubai Police Academy.

Mr. Rashed Majed Al-Abbar, Director Mobile Commerce, Central Marketing at Etisalat shared the organization’s perspective on the increasing cyber threats faced by businesses and individual consumers today, and the ways to avert these threats and ensure robust cyber security. In his presentation session, Mr. Al-Abbar highlighted the criticality of appropriate online security systems such as firewalls, anti-virus systems and authentication systems. He also highlighted how Etisalat is helping protect and secure the UAE Internet Infrastructure for the business and consumer communities.

On the business front, Etisalat provides holistic security services that include email security, vulnerability management, content security, and robust authentication and identity management systems to ensure cohesive protection of business infrastructure.

Mr. Al-Abbar also highlighted the various eSecurity protection tools Etisalat provides to its internet customers, such as anti-virus and content security applications, and proxy protection from cyber threats.

Etisalat has played an active to make its customers aware about the cyber security to protect their intellectual property. On the consumer front, Etisalat has taken proactive steps to combat online fraud and phishing attacks by blocking such harmful content and by raising public awareness about impending threats. Etisalat sends alerts warnings on such attacks to its customers through emails and also advises customers on their website.

Mr. Abbar also highlighted how individuals and organizations should boost up their existing security systems and take shared responsibility of their online behavior by taking proactive steps to reduce cyber threats.

“In this digital age, we are all connected, and each one of us plays an important role in securing cyber space. Cyber security preparedness truly is a shared responsibility and I invite and urge every UAE resident to take action to prevent cyber crime. We use the internet for everything from email to banking to health information exchange, and it is critically important that we keep this vital communication and collaboration tool safe for ourselves, our family, and our country. Working together, we can improve our nation’s cyber security preparedness, ” Mr. Al-Abbar added.
