Well that’s a lot for a hobby product.

Not so much of a hobby now, eh, Stevie? Apple, today, announced that it expects its Apple TV solution to cross one million sales at the end of this week. Apple TV was launched on September 1, 2010.

In a press release, Apple also dropped in some stats: Apple TV users are purchasing over 400,000 TV episodes and 150,000 movies each day through the iTunes store.

Apple TV retails at $99 and offers a compact device that comes loaded with WiFi, HDMI, optical audio and an ethertnet port. The device can stream 720p HD video and audio using iTunes or any iOS 4.2 device.

While opinion on Apple TV is somewhat divided, the device is doing incredibly well from its previous version which didn’t meet with such fanfare. At that time Steve Jobs described the Apple TV as a “hobby” but now with increasing sales and relative success, that might pretty change soon.
