Your address book on steroids
LinkedIn Profile? Check. Facebook Profile? Check. Recent phone calls, emails, appointments and SMS messages. Check, check, check and check. That is how your mobile address book should behave and that is exactly what Xobni on your BlackBerry gives you. If I was to describe Xobni in one line, it would be “Your address book on steroids”
The idea behind Xobni is that it scans your address book as well as all you incoming and outgoing emails for any contact details and captures them. This makes it easier finding a contact, even if you haven’t created one in your address book. Not only does your contact get indexed, but Xobni can also pull information from Facebook and LinkedIn to fill in any publicly available information on that person and fill in the details for you. For this feature to work, you need to sign in with your LinkedIn and Facebook accounts.
Looking up contacts is also pretty easy- just pull up Xobni and start typing anything related to that contact such as any part of their name of their company and Xobni pull it up for you along with shortcuts to call or email that person- provided it has a phone number or email address for that person.
Simply puling up Xobni instead of searching for a contact shows you your contacts not alphabetically but according to the Xobni rank which is based on the frequency of communication you have had with that contact- so your most contacted people will be right on top.
At the moment, Xobni is only available for the BlackBerry platform and even on that, it works best on landscape oriented devices like the Bold and Curve instead of the portrait oriented device like Torch and Storm. Priced at US$ 1.99, Xobni is one application that your BlackBerry should not be without- especially if you are a working professional.
