Motorola Defy and Flipout apparently launching in UAE

Too bad that we won’t be covering the event.

So it looks like Motorola is getting ready to launch their Defy and Flipout models today at 4:30pm. And we get the invitation to it about 2:30pm or two hours before the event. Considering that we are based in Abu Dhabi and the event is in Dubai, it would have been nicer to get the invitation, say, a few days earlier?

Both the Motorola Defy and Motorola Flipout look like pretty good products. Defy is powered by the TI OMAP 3610 CPU running at 800MHz with 512MB RAM. It features Android 2.1 (hopefully upgradeable to the upcoming Gingerbread 2.3 OS), has a 3.7″ touch display, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, microSDHC card slot and speakerphone. Whats awesome about it is that is water-resistant up to 3 feet and has a scratch-proof Gorilla Glass.

The Flipout, on the other hand, has a very uncommon square form factor with, as the name suggests, a flipout QWERTY keyboard and 2.8 inch capacitive touch screen. Other features include 3MP camera, A-GPS, FM Radio, microSDHC slot for memory and speakerphone. As per the picture above, you can see that it will be available in multiple colors as well.

The Motorola Defy is more of an up-market product while the Flipout seems targeted more towards the budget sector. Too bad that we wont be able to bring you any coverage on the event.
