iOS 4.2 already jailbroken

Redsn0w out with tethered jailbreak.

Well, that was quick. Within 24 hours of Apple releasing the updated iOS 4.2.1, the hackers at Dev-Team blog have managed to bypass all security doors and produce a jailbreak solution for the iPhone and iPad devices.

But before you hop on the bandwagon, do learn this: the new redsnow jailbreak is ‘tethered’, meaning that whenever if you have to reboot your device or if it loses power, you would have to reattach it to a PC or a Mac to get it back up and running. This applies to iPhone 4, iPad, the newer iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch models. There is no solid release date on a proper jailbreak as of yet.

Users of the ultrasnow hack are recommended to hold their horses. According to Dev-Team blog, work on a new update is looking “very promising”. A unlock hack can be expected for 3G and 3GS users this week, while iPhone 4 users may have to wait a tad bit longer.
