World’s first USB flash drive with infinite capacity
First up, was Infinitec’s Infinite USB Memory Device (IUM). Presented by Infinitec’s CEO Ahmad Zahran, the product was impressive on many fronts. The IUM is the first to deliver infinite USB capacity; it’s been mentioned on top tech sites like Engadget, Gizmodo and many others; and the product has been made in the UAE. Considering the UAE imports it’s tech hardware from the rest of the world, we’re quite happy to see a potentially great product that could be a UAE export.
On a technical front, the IUM really has no storage space at all. What it is really, is a clever little device that can be paired to your Laptop or PC and can be used to transfer data to and fro another device through this link-up. Since the data is transferred to your computer’s hard drive, you’re only limited in terms of size by your hard drive space.
The limitation of the product is that it needs to be paired with a computer as it doesn’t have any storage space on it’s own and if you’re outside the wireless range of your computer, it’s rendered useless. I also think it will face a lot of competition from the likes of Imation’s Link device which we showcased in our Gitex coverage this year.
Even with its limitations, I think it’s a great product and what’s really interesting is that Zahran says there’s more products from Infinitec in the pipeline. We can’t wait to see how this brilliant device is enhanced further in the product line.
