The new OS update brings the iPad up-to-neck with iPhone 4′s features.
With three delays and WiFi troubles, Apple has finally managed to iron out any outstanding issues and usher in the new iOS 4.2 update for the iPad and iPhone 4 today.
The new update targets mainly the iPad users, bring many of the features iPhone users have been enjoying to the tablet, such as multi-tasking, folder support, unified inbox, and game center.
“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”
The update also includes two brand new feature for both the platforms: AirPlay, which allow users to stream music, video and pictures, wirelessly, from an iPhone, iPad or an iPod Touch directly to an Apple TV; and AirPrint which allows users to print document wirelessly on compatible printers directly from their iDevices.
The update is now available on iTunes, however, users are reporting servers to be down.
