AMD’s new mainstream offerings got Intel beat.

The Verdict:
Great performance at reasonable prices.

Without much further waiting, we’ll be getting to our testbed which consists of an ECS A890GXM-A2 Black Series motherboard, 2x 1GB Corsairs XMS3-1333 ram, 64GB Kingston V-Series SSD, MSI N480GTX Lightning VGA card and Corsairs HX1000W PSU running on Windows 7 Ultimate.

As you can see from the benchmarks above, the X6 1075T isn’t doing so hot in games, mostly due to the low clock speeds, however the extra 2 cores compared to the rest of the competition do help out in the processor intensive tests.

Outside of games and, strangely, WinRAR, the X4 970BE quite handily beats its nearest competitor the Core i5 750 in all the benchmarks, driving its price/performance ratio well above Intel’s mainstream offering.

From auditing to editing, I now test and analyze the latest gadgets and games instead of the latest financial statements. Both jobs are equally intense and rewarding. When I'm not burning up hardware in the name of science, you'll find me nuking in DOTA 2 or engineering in TF2.
