We may not even remember when Internet Explorer got such a rounding response, but Microsoft’s latest version of its still popular browser is doing rather well. Not only has IE9 captured 0.25% of the browser market share, it has also surpassed 6 million downloads in just two weeks.

“Two weeks after IE9 Beta launch, we continue to see great reactions from our customers. As of today, IE9 Beta has been downloaded 6 million times, which is two and half times what we saw with IE8 Beta in a similar timeframe”, wrote Ryan Gavin, Senior Director of Internet Explorer Business and Marketing.

With IE9, Microsoft has introduced a host of new features, a new engine and entirely new look that suits well with Windows 7. It is also the only browser to actually support full hardware acceleration of all HTML5 content, something which Mozilla and Google are gearing up for pretty soon.
