Smartworld CEO joins HP as Middle East lead.

HP today announced that Eyad Shihabi has been appointed to the position of managing director and Enterprise Business lead for the Middle East, effective 5th October, 2010. In this role, Shihabi will provide leadership for HP’s Enterprise Business in the region while building close customer relationships to create best-in-class client experience. In his new role, he will have responsibility for Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and UAE.

Shihabi, a US national, will report to Santiago Cortes, Managing Director, HP Middle East and Africa (MEMA) and Vice President, Enterprise Business, HP MEMA. Shihabi joins HP from Smartworld, where he served for the last 2 years as the CEO.

“We are pleased to have Eyad joining HP and taking on the responsibility of leading HP in Middle East, which is such an important and fast growing market, said Cortes.  “We look forward to continued growth across our Enterprise Business in the Middle East. Eyad’s leadership experience as a CEO, his international experience, his strong sales and operations background, and his understanding of the importance of attracting and developing top talent will be invaluable in his new role,” Cortes continues.
