Dell to launch new tablet ‘soon’

Dell confirmed that, after its stint with the 5-inch tablet+phone combo, the Dell Streak, it will be launching a 7-inch tablet “within weeks”, according to Dell China president Amit Midha.

The device was shown off at an Orcale conference in the US a week ago by Michael Dell himself, but a release date wasn’t provided.

“It was showed off at Oracle World by Michael last week and we’ll be launching very, very soon—within the next few weeks,” Mr. Midha said in an interview.

The 7-incher will run on Google Android, however, Midha said Dell has been testing Google’s Chrome OS on the device as well.

Midha also confirmed 3-inch and 4-inch devices which will release along the same time as the 7-inch tablet-PC hits the market.
