3G SpeedTest: Etisalat vs. Du on iPhone 4

We pit the two telecom’s 3G connections against each, and we have a clear winner.

The iPhone 4 is available on both Etisalat and du networks and we decided to run speed tests on both these networks to find out which one can carry data in and out of your iPhone faster. This test was done at our Abu Dhabi office and considering how different spots in the country will reveal different numbers, your results may vary.

As you can see from the video above, du manages to thrash Etisalat in our tests from the Abu Dhabi office. Ping times are better with Etisalat but everything else is way faster for on du. Stay tuned for our follow up to this test from our Dubai office next week to find out if Etisalat can do better there.

Muffi, shouldn’t you be sending your faulty iPhone back to Etisalat now? In which case, Etisalat will be getting a zero in the next test hehehe

a real test most be taken in several areas across the UAE, you can’t tell which network have the best speed from testing in one site.

I tested both du and etisalat in Dubai (Emirates HQ, Al Qarhood), I got 4 Mbit\s with du and 2 Mbit\s with etisalat, du have a faster network in Dubai but with more less coverage than etisalat.

Looks like this test was taken from du’s best network spot in town, at the time of du’s lowest network traffic! A network traffic!!!!!! Seriously…..I don’t think few people would cause traffic! And what network am I talking about? Does du even have a network?!

I really would like to believe in this video, but it’s just one video, so it tells nothing! At the same time, when I try du from time to time, it’s just that their network is not reliable, and can’t be trusted. Can you really have one and only one mobile phone that has a du sim card without being afraid of its drop calls or situations of no signals at all? With du’s iPhone, you can do one thing with confident: find a good spot, stick to this spot, and use the phone.

Sorry that I’m making fun of du here, I really like du, I have some friends working at du, and they are great people. But the thing is du is just doing many things the wrong way, and trying to convince people to believe in those things, whereas reality says the opposite!

Few weeks ago du said their mobile network is 42.5Mbps. Reality: du’s mobile network is not linked to fiber network, even 21Mbps is impossible for them to achieve.
Also, when du launched their iPhone4, they said: “with the fastest and best network…”. Guess what: they are not saying it anymore! So what happened?

It seems that du is getting desperate about their network quality, and wants to do anything to change people’s perception!

The funny part is that du tries to compete with Etisalat, at the same time asking Etisalat for help!!! Please share your fiber network! Please improve our signals inside buildings! Please, please please…..

    Good luck dudududuuuuuuu

on my iphone Etisalat around 3.5 Mbps

du may give u higher speed in business areas but etisalat has wider coverage of 3g across UAE. I stay in Dubai, I have an outdoor job and I travel a lot thru Sharjah, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. I have used 3g services, on my iphone, on both Etisalat and Du over a period of 6 months across different areas of UAE. Etisalat gives me minimum 1 mbps speed in any 3G area. Du speed can be very poor in most areas. i listen to streaming radio on my iphone while travelling thru Dubai- Abu Dhabi or Dubai- Al ain or Emirates Road. Du 3G disconnects frequently but etisalat 3G speed remains uninterrupted anywhere. In areas not covered by 3G , the connection shifts to EDGE which is also very good on etisalat.
