VLC Player makes entry into Apple Store

The popular media player is now available for the Apple iPad.

If you are an avid on-the-go movie watcher on your iPad, rejoice as you no longer have to be restricted to certain video formats. The popular open-source video player VLC is now available for the iPad and if you are familiar with its PC-based version, you will know that it can play anything.

VLC Player is now available for free on Apple Store for iPad users who have upgraded to OS 3.2 or later.

“VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework, that plays most multimedias files and various streaming protocols,” according to the app’s description. “It is simple to use, yet very powerful and extendable.

“VLC has all codecs built-in. It comes with support for nearly all codec there is. And what is more it can even play back the file or media if it is damaged! Missing or broken pieces are no stop to VLC, it plays all the video and audio information that’s still intact.”
