To hold several launch events worldwide on October 21.

First smartphones carrying Microsoft’s new mobile OS Windows Phone 7 will arrive on shelves on October 21, according to sources close to Neowin.

‘Sources’ familiar with the Microsoft plans say that the software giant is planning several launch events worldwide on October 21 (could Gitex 2010 be one of them we wonder?) to introduce the entire range of WP7 handsets. Before that, Microsoft plans to showcase some of the devices at an open house event in New York City on October 11.

The first countries to receive WP7 phones on October 21 are UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

As the launch date nears, Microsoft will be ramping up its renowned marketing blitz with some major advertising partnerships with London-based radio stations and long time partner Orange.

There has been no news on when WP7 is expected to launch in the UAE. But keep tuned!
