Garmin and Asus to bring their GPS-smartphone to UAE

The Garmin-Asus M10 is now available across all retail stores for AED 1899.

Garmin-Asus, a co-branded alliance between Garmin Ltd. and ASUSTeK Computer Inc. today announced the Middle East launch of the Garmin-Asus M10, a full-touch, all-in-one smartphone that offers preloaded professional, mobile navigation features from Garmin that provides users with accurate maps and rich points of interest.

The navigation tools on the M10 can be compared to the Garmin nüvi 1410, with a fast GPS positioning time of 33 sec . It also includes features such as lane guidance, to direct the drivers to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit. Moreover, it displays road signs, junctions on their route and highway mode that tells drivers the next three upcoming street exits so they can plan ahead*. Equipped with numerous points of interest, M10 enables you to locate the one closest to your current location and guides you till you arrive at it. The M10 is ready for automotive navigation out-of-the-box and includes everything a customer needs to it in a car, including a powered dashboard and windshield mount*.

The M10 will be available across all leading retailers in UAE for AED 1899 starting September 2010.

Navigation functions are linked to the location information coming from frequently used applications such as calendar, contacts, email, internet browser, and messaging; this comprehensive integration makes the navigation experience exceptionally intuitive and smooth.


A Premium Navigation Smartphone
The Garmin-Asus M10 runs on Windows Mobile platform that enhances user experience and provides access to a vast number of applications for download. “Windows phones move seamlessly from work to play, creating new experiences through a variety of hardware, applications and services,” said Andy Lees, senior vice president of Mobile Communication Business at Microsoft.

The M10 has a sleek design with a 3.5-inch WVGA display and a finger-friendly user interface. The billboard feature displays the most important information so users can review all at one glance. An intuitive 3D task manager also allows users to switch easily between running applications. Keeping the phone responsive and the navigation smooth are 512 RAM and 512 ROM, while 4GB of Flash memory provides ample storage for multimedia and data.

The M10 is equipped with a 1500 mAh battery that ensures many hours of uninterrupted use, as well as a full QWERTY soft keyboard for speedy text input. HSDPA wireless connectivity and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) ensure that messages are sent and received quickly. In addition, the M10 can be synched wirelessly to an enterprise system so that contacts and emails are always available and secure.

Ciao! Ushers in a Connected Lifestyle
The Garmin-Asus M10 boasts a range of social capabilities, including access to Facebook and Picasa Web Albums. It also places real-time information on connected services with Ciao! that enables users to access information on weather, traffic, flight information and more. Ciao! Allows friends of your choice to see where you are via real time geographic location information. You control when and to whom your location is disclosed by managing the settings from and within the Ciao! application and on the third party network applications.

In addition, the M10 is equipped with a high performance five mega-pixel camera that automatically geotags photos so that users will always know where they were taken and can easily share them with friends via Facebook and Picasa.
