Series feature 3D Sweep Panorama and Full HD video recording.
Sony Gulf, the regional arm of consumer electronics giant Sony, today announced the Middle East launch of the world’s first 3D digital still cameras, DSC-TX9, and DSC-WX5, in the Cyber-shot T series and W series range. Sony also announced the launch of the beautifully sculpted DSC-T99 that is guaranteed to turn heads with a choice of stunning new colour options.
Part of Sony’s 3D product portfolio, the new Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5 are equipped with 12.2 megapixel resolution, ‘Exmor R’ CMOS image sensors, 25mm and 24mm wide-angle lens, and 4x and 5x optical zoom respectively. On the other hand, the DSC-T99 comes with a Super HAD CCD image sensor with a 14.1 megapixel resolution, 25mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and 4x optical zoom, offering excellent clarity in any environment.
Featuring a 3D component to digital imaging possibilities, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5 capture panoramic photos in 3D with Sony’s exclusive 3D Sweep Panorama function. Users can easily sweep the camera in a horizontal or vertical direction to capture impressive, ultra-wide panorama shots in 3D that can be viewed on any 3D compatible LCD TV. The integrated Intelligent Sweep Panorama in the DSC-T99 mode also allows users to capture dynamic panoramic scenes.
The 3D experience is further enhanced with ‘Sweep Multi View’. When activated, the camera simultaneously shoots and stores 15 images from different viewpoints, creating three-dimensional visuals. Users can view images with 3D visual effects on the camera screen immediately after shooting by tilting the camera.
The Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5 incorporate a ‘Background Defocus’ mode enabling users to capture portrait and macro photos with a blurred background effect that could previously only be taken with DSLR cameras. Both cameras are equipped with high-speed continuous shooting of 10 frames per second (fps) and Full HD (1920 x 1080, 50i) AVCHD recording to capture fast moving scenes to produce stunning, high-resolution photos and videos.
For movie enthusiasts, the DSC-T99 features 720p HD movie recording that allows users to create their own movies and video projects with ease.
Both Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5 models integrate a new ‘Superior Auto Shooting’ mode where the camera automatically chooses the optimal settings to match the shooting scene and conditions with the press of the shutter button.
Additionally, the new range of cameras minimises the need for photo editing with the new ‘Soft Skin’ mode, which enables users to enhance a subject’s facial features by removing blemishes and defining the eyes and lips for beautiful portrait shots. Photographers can choose from three Soft Skin modes – low, medium and high – and enhance the faces of up to eight people simultaneously.
The new Cyber-shot cameras are compatible with Sony’s Memory Stick™ and SD / SDHC /SDXC memory cards. In addition, the new in-camera application ‘PMB Portable’ enables users to upload images directly from the camera to photo sharing websites via USB without having to download the images onto their computer first.
The luxuriously designed Cyber-shot DSC-T99 comes with smooth curves fashioned on a sleek aluminum frame in five colour options – black, silver, pink, green and violet. The DSC-WX5 is available in black, silver, brown, gold and violet, while the DSC-TX9 comes in dark grey, gold and red.
The new Cyber-shot DSC-WX5 and DSC-TX9 are currently available in all Jumbo Electronics stores and other major retail electronic outlets in the UAE, while the DSC-T99 will be available from October 2010.
