UAE “optimistic” about a solution before October 11 deadline.
Hold on to your Berries, guys. According to an UAE official, the country is “very optimistic” that a agreement to the Blackberry ban dispute will be reached before the previously set October 11 deadline.
Early August, the country’s telecommunication authority had issued a ban on all Blackberry service on the terms of national security risk. A full control on all data was asked which Blackberry makers RIM could not provide initially.
“We are very optimistic about the outcome. We both are working very hard trying to resolve the issues….it’s going to be solved before the deadline,” Mohammed al-Bawardi, secretary general at Abu Dhabi’s executive council, told reporters on Sunday.
RIM were in dispute with several other Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, with which they have successfully reached a deal on access to Blackberry Messenger service.
