Users can now view the first chapter of a book and share passages on social networking sites.

Amazon has renamed their ‘Look Inside’ feature for its book store and are now calling it Kindle for Web. The newly named service allows users to sample to a larger part of the book, and had added social networking features for easy sharing.

Kindle for Web enables you to read the entire first chapter of a book directly from the web browser; no additional software is required to use the service. Amazon has a sample book up here that gives a demo of the new feature.

You can also select a passage from the book and share on Facebook, Twitter, and even Bloggers who use Amazon’s Associates Program. The company hopes to build word of mouth and boost book sales.

Kindle of Web is HTML-5 and could be used on devices like iPad, iPhone 4, etc.
