UAE still biggest market with 16.4% sales increase.
With a total of 3,146 vehicles delivered to the GCC and Levant over the first half of 2010, Audi Middle East reports a healthy 8.5 percent growth in sales. The UAE remains the biggest market in the region for the brand with the four rings. Audi registered a 16.4 percent sales increase to 1,181 units in the Emirates. Further core markets are Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, both with over 500 units in sales in the first half of 2010 and 21.2 percent and 0.4 percent growth respectively.
Audi’s SUVs once again prove most successful with the Audi Q7 being the best selling model, followed by the Q5, which also registered the strongest growth with an increase of 46.6 percent over 2009 and hence became the clear leader in the German premium compact SUV segment.
“We are proud to report sustainable, healthy figures for the first half. AUDI AG is aiming for another sales record of over 1,000,000 cars delivered worldwide in 2010. The Middle East is an important part of that” says Jeff Mannering, Managing Director of Audi Middle East. “Still to come in 2010 are the new Audi R8 Spyder and our new flagship, the Audi A8.”
For the period January through June AUDI AG had reported a worldwide sales increase of 19.1 percent to 554,950 units compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
