Sapphire IPC-AM3DD785G Socket AM3 DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard Review

The Sapphire IPC-AM3DD785G is the first Mini ITX motherboard for AMD Socket AM3 processors tested at ocinside.de.
Thanks to the small form factor, Mini ITX motherboards are excellently suitable for mediaplayer, NetTop PCs, or industrial PCs.
The AMD 785G chipset is already recommended in some ocinside.de reviews and offers with its onBoard graphics unit a good basis to build such a system.
However, on these systems overclocking is less important than a low current consumption.
So the current review of the Sapphire IPC-AM3DD785G motherboard not only shows overclocking results, but particularly the current consumption and the capability in small systems.

When Intel’s Clarkdale-based processors were released this past January, Gigabyte jumped into action creating some of the best H55 boards available. With the new Clarkdale-based processors, the H55M includes built in graphics, making this setup great for people looking to build smaller PC’s like HTPC’s, small form factor web PC’s, and small servers. With low power consumption and no need for a GPU (due to Intel’s Clarkdale-based CPU), these computers save power and and are extremely efficient. The H55M USB3 we are looking at today also enters the new world of USB 3.0, giving this new setup an extra advantage.

In Win Dragon Slayer MicroATX Mini Tower PC Case Review

“The Dragon Slayer from In Win is a very nice little case. The metal mesh front and side panels give it a nice look and allow for good air flow. With the Dragon Slayer falling in the $75-100 range it’s got a fair amount of cases to compete with. Unlike most mini towers in its price range the Dragon Slayer has more cooling, can accommodate larger coolers and has the 5th expansion slot that most mini towers don’t have. The other side of that coin is that when most are looking at a mini tower they are looking for a small case…”

Plantronics GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset Review

Quote: “There were many strengths and weaknesses that worked with this
headset in some FPS games, however some results we recorded didn’t
work so well. The overall construction, design, and price point fell
perfectly into the proper class for these type of headphones. The
noise cancelling microphone that were concealed skillfully in the
bridge of the headset was a stroke of genius on Plantronic’s part.
However, there were a couple small issues that made me think basic
users might have a difficult time using these headphones.”

Phiaton PS 20 NC Review

“Earlier this year we had an opportunity to review Phiaton’s PS 210 headphones. Their unique “half in-ear” design proved to be an admirable design point that improved how securely they fit as well as their sound quality. Now, we take a moment to review the new PS 20 NC headphones, a set of noise-cancelling earphones that combine the same “half in-ear” design with active noise cancelling that proposes to reduce ambient noise by 95%.”

Motorola Droid 2

” The Motorola Droid, is no doubt a popular phone, now we have the Droid 2 running the Android 2.2 and some beefier specs. It very much resembles the original Droid in design, and I can understand why nothing changed much as it was a good design. What changes were made were for the better, like a larger keyboard and faster CPU. I just realized that it’s been almost a year since the original Droid came out, so let’s take a look at this new version and do a little bit of comparison as well to the original. ”

AMD to kill ATi brand name

August 30, 2010 by
Filed under Components, Graphics Cards, News

AMD has confirmed that it will be retiring the ATi brand later this year, according to report from Anandtech.

The decision was taken after internal research by the chip makers showed that AMD stands to have a stronger brand name recognition than ATi, and that the AMD brand will be a better fighter against the competitions. The research also shows that Radeon and Fire Pro sub-category brands also have solid awareness among consumers.

This may be a heartening time for loyal ATi users who might want to save the ATi graphics card boxes and stickers as they no longer will be seeing those on any product.

It was only four years ago when AMD acquired ATi for a whopping $5.4 billion, making it one of the largest mergers in recent times.

Audi’s new energy recovery system available on all of its lineups

Press release:
Audi Middle East reports that all 39 of its available model and engine variants now feature energy recuperation as a standard in the Middle East. The Audi energy recovery system, which uses kinetic energy during deceleration, increases efficiency, particularly in urban traffic and saves fuel – up to three percent, depending on the driving cycle.

The alternator operates with a new intelligent control system. It increases its secondary voltage during coasting and braking phases, producing more electric power. It then converts kinetic energy – i.e. energy of motion – into electrical energy, which is stored temporarily in the battery. When the car accelerates again, electrical consumers are supplied with power from the battery. In this way the alternator can operate at a low load when driving off and accelerating.

Jeff Mannering, Managing Director of Audi Middle East, comments “Efficiency is standard in every Audi. We don’t need a marketing claim for it, because it is what Vorsprung durch Technik means. For Audi, efficiency is the sum of many individual steps – many of them invisible to the customer, from engine sector, ancillaries and transmissions to energy management, body construction and driver assistance. We are systematically investing over EUR 5.5 billion for the period 2010 through 2012 and some 80 percent of that amount will be channeled directly into new products, lightweight construction, and drive technologies of the future.”

Quote: “When people think of manufacturers who make compact digital cameras, few will probably think of Samsung. Though recently, it seems Samsung has been building more photographic equipment, and been doing a great job of it too. The latest compact digital camera from Samsung to reach the market is the EX1. With its compact metal body, an impressive F1.8-2.4 optical zoom lens capable of 24mm at the wide-angle and an articulated screen, it looks like Samsung is serious about their cameras. There are many features of the Samsung EX1 that was unexpected but highly desirable, the impressive F1.8 aperture capabi lity, their high quality OLED articulated rear display and the ability to capture images in RAW (an uncompressed/lossless file format).”
