Local magazines and newspapers are about to invade your Smartphone.

We attended the launch event for Mobivision’s Mobimag application held at Emirates Towers yesterday. In a sentence, Mobimag is a digital application that allows users to access regional newspapers and magazines through their Smartphone and handheld devices.

For the end-user, Mobimag and all its contents are free to view meaning you will be able to read all magazine articles without paying anything. The way Mobivision plans on staying in business is by inserting interactive ads within these magazines. At the moment, there are three regional publications available for viewing through Mobimag- 7 Days, Campaign and Gulf Business.

Currently, the application is available for the Symbian platform with Blackberry, iPhone and Android applications planned within the next couple of months. We had a chance to chat with Feras Younes, the Product Manager for Mobimag who took us through the application.

The concept for Mobimag is certainly interesting and one of the things the team is proud about is the data efficiency of downloadable content meaning the stories will download on your phone pretty fast and cost less.
