Google’s Froyo browser twice as fast than Apple’s Safari in JS performance.

Google recently released the new version of its mobile operating system Android 2.2, lovingly called Froyo, to Nexus One handsets. The update not only brought in a host of new features but also a sizable boost in performance, especially that of in JavaScript handling. Of course, whenever a piece of hardware is associated with “faster”, comparsion benchmarks are all but given. Not the ones to waste any time, the techies over Ars Technica teamed Android 2.2 with iOS 4 in a battle for JavaScript dominance. Result? Well, have a look at yourself:

Needless to say, Android 2.2′s web browser absolutely outclassed Apple Safari, scoring over three times the points in V8 benchies and being almost twice as fast on SunSpider benchmarks.
