The touted Retina display costs $28.50 to make.

Apple iPhone 4 retails at $599 off-contract or $199 on-contract for the 16GB version. But how much does it cost to manufacture one? $188 if iSuppli is to be believed. According to the market researcher’s teardown, the much heralded Retina display cost $28.50 to make; Apple’s A4 processor, which is manufactured by Samsung, costs $10.75; and the Gyroscope comes with a price tag of $2.60.
