HP to create fully automated commercial data centres.
Despite a 28% bump in profits, HP announced today that it will be laying off 9,000 employees as it moves to automate several of its commercial data centres.
The technology giant will invest $1 billion over a multiyear period and believes the move will ultimately save anywhere from $500 – $700 million and increase overall productivity.
HP says the commercial data centres will help its clients run their businesses faster and more efficiently. HP looks to hire 6,000 new workers in various countries to replace those who lost their jobs.
