Does this speel the death of Apple TV?

Apple has quietly updated the Mac Mini and from the looks of it, it spells the death of Apple TV. At 1.4”, the newMac Mini design is a little over half the height of the old design and yet manages to pack in HDMI and Display Port outputs as well as an SD card slot along with four USB ports, Ethernet and audio input/outputs.

Based on the 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo along with the NVIDIA 320M GPU and 256MB RAM, this HDMI equipped box of wonders is perfect as an HTPC. While I would have loved to see a Bluray player, the standard DVD drive would have to do for now. Storage comes in the form of a 320GB 2.5” internal hard drive which would be the first thing I would replace with an SSD.

Bluetooth and 802.11n Wireless is built in as expected along with Gigabit Ethernet. This new Mac Mini with its HDMI port, along with the upcoming version of Plex is probably powering up my living room pretty soon.
