“Beware of cyber attacks” Salim tells e-junior Kids

e-junior invites Salim, the cyber security advisor from aeCERT to advise kids.

In its endeavor to guide kids towards a safe cyber future, e-junior, the exclusive UAE kids channel from E-Vision, collaborated with aeCERT, the Computer Emergency Response Team to host Salim, the animated character who represents an Emirati cyber security advisor.

Salim, the popular animation character was introduced by aeCERT in its aim to spread awareness about Internet threats. Salim interacts withvarious target audience within the society through various awareness programs, such as workshops, presentations and events at schools and universities to provide tips to protect against cyber threats.

e-junior in collaboration with aeCERT hosted Salim on its weekly studio show “e-junior Town”  where Salim provided safe cyber tips and spread awareness among its young viewers about the risks and dangers they can face on the internet and how they should deal with them.  Salim will continue to guide the youngsters through this show, as part of a long term collaboration between e-junior and aeCERT.

Humaid Rashed Sahoo, CEO/ e-Vision said “We are glad to see the launch of this initiative, by which we seek to educate and disseminate UAE Kids the culture for the definition Internet threats. The character (Salim) will display cases of reality and how to deal with them, which makes the child fully aware of the types of fraud in a manner easy and fun”. He added that we have more than 300 thousand kids who are watching and waiting for e-junior on a daily basis.

“Online awareness is critical for youngsters in today’s world where Internet has become omnipresent and community portals like facebook, twitter and MySpace have replaced traditional means of interaction. e-junior, through its various programs, aims to spread awareness in the young generation about the potential threats from the Internet, to promote a safe-cyber environment, ” said Fatiha Bensalem, Channel Manager, e-junior.

Many studies have reflected that kids are spending more time on the internet than ever and are exposed to important data which can be insecure to them.

The aeCERT is one of the TRA initiatives established to apply its strategy to support a safe cyberspace in the UAE, by facilitating detection, prevention and response of cyber security incidents on the Internet.
