The Vodafone 150 carries a price tag of $16 and comes with a full 24 month replacement warranty.
Vodafone has introduced the world’s cheapest mobile phone in Qatar. The Vodafone 150 (VF150) costs QR59 ($16) and if that wasn’t enough, also comes with a full 24 month replacement warranty, a first in the region.
“With the launch of the VF 150, we are giving many people in Qatar the opportunity to share in the benefits of mobile technology for the first time,” Said Daniel Horan, director, Commercial Business Unit, Vodafone Qatar.
“The cost of mobile handsets can be one of the most significant barriers for people in accessing and benefiting from the growing number of socially valuable mobile services. The lives of people who use the VF 150 will be changed and improved as they become part of the mobile society,” he added.
At that price, the phone offers the most bare-minimum basic functionalities and features, such as a mini-USB connector, alarm, clock, torch, calculator, currency converter, two built-in games, 100 phonebook entry space, and of course, voice and SMS services.
Last week, Vodafone Qatar had announced that its customer based reached 464,962 at the end of the company’s financial year. A feat achieved only in seven months since the launch of Vodafone’s prepay product, Red, in September 2009.
“We are thrilled by this amazing result which has exceeded our expectations and targets for customer numbers. We now have a substantial customer base that will help drive future performance and forms a solid basis for generating future revenue growth,” said Grahame Maher, CEO, Vodafone Qatar.
