Don’t expect Blu-ray drives on Macs anytime soon.

In an email conversation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs suggested to use YouTube for sharing HD videos. When asked about the possibility of Macs ever carrying built-in Blu-ray drives by a certain user to share his lineup of HD family videos, Jobs only simply said “YouTube now supports HD video”, which suggests that Apple is not very keen on supporting Blu-ray drives for their Macs any time soon. And why not, after all Blu-ray drives and their implementations still cost considerably more than DVD, and the HD format requiring more stringent AACS copy protection.
