The Wasel pre-paid package now includes Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Press release:
Etisalat’s Wasel prepaid customers can now use Etisalat’s new ‘Recharge while Roaming’ service and recharge their Wasel accounts while traveling. Starting with Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Etisalat’s UAE prepaid customers will also be able to conveniently top up their talk time while also traveling to other countries worldwide in future.

From now on, Wasel prepaid customers will have the flexibility to top up their mobile accounts via recharge cards even while they’re away from home, either for work travel or vacation. They can easily use the same recharging scratch cards or vouchers that are being used in the visited country to add credit to their account. Customers need to simply refill by dialing *134*pin number# and pressing the call key. The credit purchased will be converted and available to customers in UAE Dirhams.

‘Recharge while Roaming’ is a new alternative to recharging Wasel accounts, in addition to the current available options such as recharging online, mobile payments, and auto pay that allows customers to get their Wasel recharged automatically in regular intervals, upon a pre-set configuration.

Commenting on the benefits of the service, Khalifa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Etisalat said, “In our continuous effort to provide our Wasel prepaid customers easier and hassle-free ways of staying connected while they’re traveling abroad, Etisalat has introduced the new service in Egypt and Saudi Arabia so far and will be adding more countries to this list later. Essentially, this new value-added offering allows Etisalat’s prepaid roaming customers to easily top up their accounts in the same way as they do in the UAE.”

Al Shamsi added, “Recharge while Roaming’ service offer customers, especially those who do not use credit cards, with a convenient way to recharge their Wasel cards. They no longer have to worry about running out of credit and can freely reach out to share more of their travel stories with their families and friends back home, while they’re still abroad.”

With no additional subscription or monthly charges, the recharge while roaming service can be used to recharge credit in the same way as in the UAE. For the amount required customers simply have to purchase a recharge card available locally – Mobily card in Saudi Arabia and an Etisalat Misr card in Egypt, top up their accounts and use the credit to make voice calls, SMS, data and all other services available.

The credit purchased will be in UAE Dirhams (converted at the prevailing exchange rate) and for some countries where a sales tax is applied on recharge cards, the credit available for use will be after deduction of the tax amount. Upon recharge, customers can also check their credit balance by calling *121#.
