Dubai telcom Du says the Sea-ME-we 4 cable will be restored by April 20th.
On Thursday, Etisalat had announced via a press statement that the Sea-ME-we 4 internet cable connecting Europe and Egypt has been cut causing the internet to slowdown in the region. While internet speed remained largely unaffected due to Etisalat’s rerouting of their internet services, online video sites like YouTube became completely unavailable to many users.
Well, for those severely affected by the cable cut, we have some good news. Du yesterday said that the cable which “unexpectedly” broke-down should be repaired by Tuesday, April 20th. “The estimated time to restore the cut is approximately three days, therefore the segment of the cable affected by the cut is expected to be back in service by April 20, subject to weather, sea and cable conditions,” du said.
Du had earlier announced that its customers were completely unaffected by the cable breakdown.
