PR: Samsung Electronics, a market leader in consumer electronics and world leader in Information Technology, today announced the first of its 2010 notebook range allowing users to go further and do more, whilst maintaining great style. The new range included an extension of its popular R-Series range of notebooks with three ultra-stylish new models – the powerful R580 and the stylish R530 and R430, and also a new addition to Samsung’s award-winning range of netbooks, the Samsung N150.

“Following the success of the 2009 line of notebooks and netbooks, we knew we had to create even more outstanding products to meet and surpass users’ expectations,” said Madhav Narayan, General Manager of the IT Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics. “The N150, R580, R530 and R480 do just that. The Samsung R Series, with its unrivalled mobile entertainment, offers an all-round performance, while the Samsung’s N-series features lightweight, stylish netbooks for easy surfing and entertainment”

In addition, the presence of people online is expected to increase to a quarter of the world’s population in 2010, spurred largely by online growth in the region, resulting in an increased demand for products such as Notebook and Netbooks, IDC findings also showed..

“With the launch of the new line of notebooks and netbooks, we are looking forward to an expected regional growth of 100 percent year-on-year in our laptop division in 2010, with the help of our new marketing strategy which has been put into action,” Narayan added.

The Samsung R-Series notebooks and N-Series netbooks have all been awarded the leading environmental and usability standard, TCO Certified, and are ECO RoHS compliant. As well as being ergonomically designed for optimum ease of use and performance, they are also completely mercury free and consume significantly less power thanks to their LED backlit displays. Their ultra-lightweight, robust and compact design also offers other ‘green’ advantages, as less power is used in the manufacture and usage phases of their product life.

“As environmentally friendly products and ‘green’ technology becomes a higher priority for our consumers, Samsung is continually striving to find new ways to meet and surpass this growing prerequisite,” added Narayan.

R-Series
Underneath the lightweight and ultra sleek casing of the R-Series notebooks is the kind of power normally only found in high-powered PCs, including high powered graphics producing the most vibrant visual experience and the smoothest video playback, delivering all you need for High Definition videos and gaming while at home with friends or family – or wherever you choose to be.

The high end model from the R-series come in Samsung’s new Touch of Color crystal finish, with an elegant, glassy and light inspired gradation, and a choice of patterns. Their ergonomic design enables a more enjoyable and productive user experience. To protect against wear and tear the scratch-resistant Samsung durable casing is also specially designed to prevent finger smudges and protect the notebook from the inevitable bumps and knocks from everyday use.

“The Samsung R-Series notebooks are the complete all-rounders of the computing world across the region – offering outstanding mobile performance and entertainment in Samsung’s distinctive and highly popular and successful Touch of Color, advancing Samsung’s signature style with an ultra-sleek design and a deep infusion of colour that illuminates the piano-black casing,” said Narayan. “With their advanced graphics, the new iCore processor from Intel, multimedia capabilities and large hard drives the new R-Series notebooks are designed to satisfy the demand of today’s consumers for systems that play incredible HD games and movies.”

N-Series
Unrivaled design and a host of advanced features make the Samsung N-Series netbooks a class of their own. All N-Series mini notebooks ensure style beyond comparison and cutting-edge engineering that only Samsung can deliver. The new additions to Samsung’s N-Series, including the new N150, will feature Intel’s Pinetrail platform.

Designed to provide maximum personal freedom the N150 keeps on going for up to 8.5 hours. This impressive battery-powered performance is possible because overall power consumption is reduced by their energy efficient LED display, optimized processing performance and Samsung’s proprietary Enhanced Battery Life solution. The Samsung N150 incorporates Intel’s latest processor, the Intel® Atom™ N450, which is specifically designed to deliver an amazing Internet experience using netbooks.

With a slim and elegant design and extensive quality assurance testing the N150 is stylish and reliable. It sports an integrated hinge with smooth movement and high quality connection, so everything blends effortlessly together even when the netbook is open.

As well as being ergonomically designed for optimum ease of use and performance, Samsung netbooks are also completely mercury free and consume significantly less power thanks to their LED backlit displays. Their ultra-lightweight, robust and compact design also offers other ‘green’ advantages, as less power is used in the manufacture and usage phases of their product life.

“Featuring an elegant choice of designs, the Samsung N150 leads the range with a pragmatic approach that takes ultra mobile computing into a whole new dimension. Longer battery life is an important issue for customers in the Middle East, and we are proud to deliver feature-rich netbooks that allow you to get wirelessly connected so easily and for such a long time,” concluded Narayan.
