Adobe announced the availability of their extremely popular Photoshop application for the iPhone which, unfortunately, is only available to the US iTunes store at the moment. Featuring basic tasks such as image rotation, cropping and flipping as well as adjusting exposure and saturation, the app integrates well with your free 2GB Photoshop.com account. Its pretty impressive to see what the iPhone platform is capable of.

I played around with the app a bit and on the 3GS, it is pretty impressive. You can use a picture taken from your iPhone’s camera and crop it by reducing it from the corners. Rotation only works at 90 degrees angles at the moment which is a bit of a shame as you dont necessarily always get a perfect alignment using your camera phone. An incremental 1 degree or so for rotation would be extremely useful.

Exposure and saturation levels work nicely by sliding your finger horizontally across to screen to adjust between -64 to +64 levels while tint shows a spectrum of colors to apply a particular shade or simply Black & White. Filters like sketch and Soft Focus as well as a host of effects are also available.

Adobe allows undo and redo so you can experiment with options without worrying. On thing missing is zooming into the picture which would be especially useful for applying filters. Once you’re done you can save the photo or upload it to your Photoshop account.

The App is available for free which is great but it would be nice if Adobe can add some more functionality and zooming capabilities to make it even better
