Review of Zalman ZM-MFC3 fan controller

Fan controllers have been around for ages it seems. These are products intended for true PC hardware enthusiasts who enjoy optimizing their systems to the max. Zalman was one of the pioneers in this sector with its famous ZM-MFC1, a device that only allowed us to control fan rotating speed. The concept of a 5.25” panel from which you could control all your fans directly was very well received by modders and PC builders. The unit which I will be taking a closer look at today is a much more evolved product compared to Zalman’s first attempt…

QUOTE: “Third generation Serial ATA technology is finally here. Today we are going to take a look at the new Seagate Barracuda XT, the first SATA 6 Gb/s hard drive to hit the TweakTown Test Lab.

A few weeks ago LSI sent over their first next generation SAS / SATA controller to review with a set of Seagate 15K.7 SAS drives that were also the first SAS 6 Gb/s products to hit the market. I think it is fair to say that Seagate is leading the charge when it comes to these next generation products that will improve the productivity of our daily computing experience for years to come.”

SanDisk Extreme Pro Compact Flash Memory card

Quote: How does one explain a card like this? I know – above top of the line! Or Greater than. . .? I say this because SanDisk’s new Compact Flash(CF) card line, Extreme Pro, with it’s 16, 32, and 64 GB options, has more speed than we have need… for… sorry about the rhyme. I suppose I mean to say more speed than you could ever need, but of course that is not really true. The SanDisk Extreme Pro’s specs out perform most professional cameras including the Canon 5D Mark II. We’ll check out if all this speed is worth it, after the break.

BFG Tech EX-1000 1000W Modular Power Supply Review

Quote: The BFG Tech EX-1000 1000W modular power supply is a quiet, well built unit that almost really impressed me. If I had tested in our old format I wouldn’t have seen the ripple issues, and would have been left with the “semi-modular” design as my biggest beef. With all things considered, I would still recommend it, especially in situations where it wasn’t to be used under a constant 1000W load.

With an eye on the digital camera market, Silicon Power saw the change in the main stream digital camera market where SDHC card has become the main storage choice. We had a rare opportunity to see a working prototype of the Raven 2 at Computex and were impressed from the start.

HIS Radeon HD 5770 1GB Video Card in CrossFire

QUOTE: “With our second HD 5770 arriving which carries with it the same stock setup as the previous one we tested, we had one idea on our mind; to CrossFire the two cards and see what kind of performance we could achieve out of the new mid-range card from ATI that has done well to impress us in solo form.

What makes CrossFiring these cards so great is the low expense of buying one now and a second one later. If you can afford the price of two initially, you’re normally better off buying the next model up; something like the HD 5850. If you want a new card now and some extra performance in the future, this could be a great option.”

Quote: “With the growth of online gaming, and the increased exposure through wider audiences sitting down and picking up a controller, or mouse and keyboad, one industry that’s built up nicely in the past few years, is professional gaming. This has seen the first celebrities in that world begin to emerge, and unsurprisingly with it, product endorsement. Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel is probably the most well known to date, but there are lot of others on the up and up. Today we take a look at a product, part designed and endorsed by Emil “HeatoN” Christensen. It’s the largest plastic mouse mat ever released, and its backed with QPad technology. Let’s see how it fairs. ”
