Apple used to make all their computers based on the PowerPC Processors about a decade ago. While doing that, they publicly made fun of Intel’s supposedly inferior CPUs and used to laugh about the integrated graphics performance of Intel based notebooks. But then Apple switched to Intel CPUs. And Intel’s integrated graphics solution. And suddenly the low performance arguments disappeared and higher battery life arguments appeared.

Soon after, Apple realized that the Intel Integrated solution that they had made fun of and then embraced was not what they wanted. Suddenly, last year, Intel integrated was totally out of the picture and in came NVIDIA with their 9400GM chipset which is now used in every single Mac except the Mac Pro. Without doubt, the 9400 is vastly superior to anything Intel has offered with integrated graphics. Without doubt, I’ve seen more NVIDIA chipset based motherboards fail than Intel chipset based boards.

Now we’re hearing rumors of things starting to shake up between Apple and NVIDIA. Some say that its because of the faulty 8600 GPU from NVIDIA that Apple had to pay a price for by extending their warranty to three years. Others say that it is due to Intel not providing NVIDIA the licence to make a chipset for their new Core i7 CPUs to which Apple desperately needs to switch their consumer machines to.

Will this make Apple jump back into the arms of Intel with their upcoming and supposedly much more powerful iGFX integrated solution? Who knows. Its easier to figure out a woman than it is to figure out Apple. With drop-dead gorgeous looks and an attitude to match, Apple is THE perfect diva to make more demands than a spoilt brat and get away with it.
