Today was the first day of the 29th Computex. I was at the “older” side which is next to Taipei 101. I started out with the ECS stand which had some interesting products on display. Their All-in-one PCs looked quite nice and are available in black and white as well as with a Touch Screen

They also had a very impressive PC which is in the shape of a Chinese Urn- you will surely miss it if you’re looking for a PC

They also had their Andriod based “Smartbook” which is about the same size as the Sony P series. It boasts a TI 1GHz OMAP3 CPU with an 8.1” screen and a 2.5” SATA drive. Weight is 800grams. This will certainly be a device to look out for.

They also had their new Motherboards and Graphics Cards on display including the Black Series which now extends to Graphics cards. Of note were the P55 based models that will have just one onboard controller instead of the North and Southbridge.

They also showed their custom cooled GTX295 and GTX280 graphics cards which will be about 15% overclocked out of the box.

My next stop was the ASUS Press Conference that introduced the new U series based on Intel’s Atom replacement- the higher priced Core 2 ULV Processors. I must say that the Notebooks looks incredibly sharp and ASUS has done a good job designing it. Here’s a video for it.

ASUS also showcased their latest LCD which is again brilliant in terms of design. Again, here is a video for it.

Our next stop was at OCZ and while we saw lots of Power Supplies, SSD drives and Memory modules, the interesting product was their 17” DIY notebook. Not the best of lookers but lots of customization.

That’s all the videos for today. Look out for more coverage tomorrow when I visit the newer hall with MSI, ASUS and a bunch of other companies.
