After the big news of Michael Fassbender starring in ‘Assassin’s Creed’ movie adaptation this week, looks like videogame-based movies are on the rise since another big action franchise has now been picked up by a Hollywood studio.

Deadline reports that CBS Films has snatched up the rights for ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’, a recent action game that was well-reviewed and is a part of the Deus Ex franchise that has a good fan base around gamers. The game’s plot is quite cinematic, in the sense that it’s about a security expert Adam Jensen who is trying to figure out who attacked his biotech company. There’s a whole conspiracy behind this, but the cool part is that the character is equipped with all sorts of cyberkinetic technology that allows him to be much more powerful than a mere human.
In a statement, the studio revealed that they want to make a great movie at the end of it:
As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal know how to exceed their audience’s expectations by engineering incredible worlds. No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the Deus Ex name.
Sounds good, and hopefully they get a great creative team to handle this as well.

After delivering a charming and bonafide hit with ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ a few weeks earlier, Wes Anderson’s next film is said to be ‘not family friendly’. But by the looks of it, it will also have the best ensemble cast that the director has ever assembled for his film.

Twitchfilm reports that the acclaimed director has visited and approached a bunch of high profile actors for roles in his next venture and here is the list of the actors that it includes – Johnny Depp, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Angela Lansbury. Of course, Johnny Depp is the biggest name of the bunch and it only fits for him to do a movie with Anderson since both love quirky material. Most of the others are regulars of the actor, but some other surprises mean that this could potentially be a huge cast. If everyone signs on, that is.
What do you think of these actors?
Jena Malone and Philip Seymour Hoffman confirmed for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

After ‘The Hunger Games’ became the second highest grossing movie of the year so far, Lionsgate is really gearing up for a second chapter in the series and Francis Lawrence is set to direct it. As far as casting goes, looks like they’re doing it right with these two new casting updates.
THR reports that after an audition hunt, actress Jena Malone has gotten the role of Johanna Mason in the sequel. It’s an important role that is also present in the third book, so it’s good that they managed to find a talented actress for the part rather than some eye candy instead.
But the movie just received some Oscar flavor with Philip Seymour Hoffman, who will play the role of Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in the movie. He was previously rumored for the part, but has now accepted the role and is confirmed for it. Another great actor who shines in literally everything that he’s done regardless of the movie’s quality, so that’s good to know that we’ll be seeing him in the sequel.
But the main role of Finnick Odair remains to be cast and there are many candidates for it. The plot synopsis of ‘Catching Fire’ is as follows:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
Are you excited for a sequel?
