Disappointing Teaser Trailer To Dreamworks Animation’s ‘MegaMind’

Dreamworks’ supposed response to Pixar’s brilliant ‘The Incredibles’ is known as ‘MegaMind’ starring Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt as voices. Too bad the teaser trailer isn’t nearly as assuring as they think. In fact, it’s pretty disappointing.

When super villain MegaMind (Ferrell) defeats his archrival Metro Man (Brad Pitt), the world should be his oyster. But instead, MegaMind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So, he creates a new superhero rival, Titan (Jonah Hill). Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain, too. Caught in the middle, star reporter Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey) asks the tough questions: Who can we turn to? Who has what it takes to stand up to this menace? Who will defend the innocent? MegaMind! That’s who.
First of all, we hardly see anything here to make up our mind. But what we do see isn’t really funny or indicative of a good film. The villain is too wacky for his own good even though Ferrell voices him (or maybe because). Also, Downey Jr. would have been much better for the film (he was originally cast). I’ll give this a chance with a full trailer before I make up my mind but I don’t see a lot of hope here.
Trailer after the jump.
Warner Bros. Preparing ‘Final Destination 5′

The next time someone tells you they’re ending a franchise, don’t believe them. Warner Bros. titled ‘Final Destination 4′ as ‘The Final Destination’ solely on the fact that it was meant to be the last (also turned out to be the worst) film in the series. But that film earned more than any other in the series, hence all previous announcements will be disregarded and another film is being prepared.

Warner Bros head Alan Horn said at ShoWest Festival that a ‘Final Destination 5′ is in order. That’s pretty much all we know about the project. No actor, director, or script is present at the time. But it puts them in an interesting situation: the title of this film. Will they call ‘Final Destination 5′ and let people figure out when 4 came? Or will they call it ‘The Final Destination 2′ and make it even worse than it already is? Or maybe ‘The Final Destination, Finally’?
Your guess is as good as mine.
First Look: Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Faster’

Remember when Dwayne Johnson used to kick ass? On WWE as well as roles in movies like ‘The Rundown’? Before he went kindergarten on us and grew wings and babysat kids? Looks like he’s returning for good. His upcoming action film ‘Faster’, by the looks of this production photo thanks to USA Today, looks freakin’ bad-ass.

A buffed up, bald and tattooed Johnson playing an angry convict? Count me in. Here is the plot of the film:
Johnson will play an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist.
A perfect role for a once-hailed action star that surprisingly took a different turn in his career. Also announced was Jason Statham cast in the upcoming ‘Tooth Fairy 2: The Teething’.
That last part was untrue. Or at least I think it was.
Summit Ponders Three Oscar-Winning Directors For ‘Breaking Dawn’

Well, look what we’ve got here. Summit Entertainment is looking to film the final book in the ‘Twilight’ saga called ‘Breaking Dawn’ in two parts. And they’ve got three gold statuette winners in mind to helm it.

Summit Entertainment is looking at three Oscar winning directors to helm the final film. Want to know who? Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant and Bill Condon. Sofia Coppola directed the (great film) ‘Lost in Translation’, Gus Van Sant has directed many arthouse films (Paranoid Park) as well as Sean Penn’s ‘Milk’, and Bill Condon made the musical ‘Dreamgirls’.
Sofia Coppola would be the best choice for the job followed by Gus Van Sant, but I really doubt any of them would show great interest in filming the weakest and most critically panned novel of the series, let alone in two parts. But then again, the hefty paychecks can change many minds. Entertainment Weekly confirms that Gus Van Sant has been offered the role (no word on the results) but the rest are still unconfirmed.
Who would you like to direct ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’?
