Dazzling ‘Tron Legacy’ Trailer Is Here

I’m still in shock. Seeing the first trailer to Disney’s upcoming ‘Tron Legacy’, one cannot take in the plethora of dazzling imagery from the last thirty seconds. It’s a brilliant trailer to a film that looks to be the most anticipated film of 2010 after ‘Inception’.

“Tron Legacy” is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

The plot is explained as to how it connects with the original and the real world looks great with the brown color pallete. Recent Oscar winner Jeff Bridges appears to steal the show in the final moments as the trailer ends with a memorable action-packed sneak peek to the coolest aspect of the film. What more would anyone want?

Watch the trailer below (I recommend HD).

‘Quarantine 2′ Is Happening, Won’t Follow ‘Rec 2′ But Will Be Set At Airport

The Spanish horror film ‘Rec’, as I’ve vocally said before, is one of the most frightening and well-made horror films ever. The U.S. was quick to cash in their own shot-to-shot remake ‘Quarantine’ that was a success but was ultimately a pointless exercise. Then came along ‘Rec 2′ (yet to be released here) that’s more of a thriller but is brilliant in its own way. Will Quarantine 2 follow? Yes and no.

Yes to the fact that there will be a Quarantine 2.Shock ’til You Drops‘ source reports that Sony has hired writer John Pogue (Ghost Ship) to write and direct the sequel. No to the fact that it won’t be a shot-to-shot remake of the Spanish sequel. In fact, it won’t follow it at all. While Rec 2 continues the storyline in the same apartment building, Quarantine 2 will take the setting to an airport where a quarantine will be set in place after an outbreak.

I won’t spoil it for you, but as you watch Rec 2, it will be very clear that Hollywood can never remake this film. But it’s good to know that they’re branching off on their own and not just copy-pasting another superior film. But sources say this will be a direct to DVD endeavor, which is disappointing to say the least. Also, it sounds similar to the plot of ‘Resident Evil: Degeneration’ (an animated horror film released recently).

Will you see another Quarantine or stick to Rec?

Sacha Baron Cohen Might Be In ‘Men In Black 3′

Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius. There, I said it. You only need to watch any of his ‘Borat’ episodes to find out why. Yet his latest ‘Bruno’ wasn’t as well received. But could he be taking a very alien (literally) route?

Bloody Disgusting report that Cohen along with actor Jemaine Clement are competing for a role in the upcoming ‘Men in Black 3′. As far as the character goes, we only have a name – Yen. Make of that what you will (it’s probably a comedic alien). I guess the rumors with Josh Brolin cast weren’t true after all?

Cohen could use some mainstream blitz to expand his fanbase and would be very funny as an extraterrestial. As another agent? Maybe not so much.

Watch Sandra Bullock’s Worst Actress Razzie Speech & Best Actress Oscar Speech

Sandra Bullock is the first ever actress to win an award for the Worst Actress of the year and the Best Actress – in the very same weekend. And she came to collect both those awards and provided the speech. See both of them below.

The awards in question are The 32th Razzie Awards where she won Worst Actress for her awful film ‘All About Steve’ and the 82th Academy Awards where she won an Oscar for Best Actress in ‘The Blind Side’. Bullock was the second ever actress to come and accept her Razzie (first was Halle Berry for the equally awful ‘Catwoman’) and managed it beautifully.

Why Was Disney’s ‘Rapunzel’ Renamed As ‘Tangled’? One Word – Boys

Disney is proudly returning to their classic tales and hand drawn animations. But after the middling (but still noteworthy) success of ‘The Princess and the Frog’, looks like they’re analyzing their demographics. Then suddenly a few weeks ago, they retitled their upcoming animation ‘Rapunzel’ to ‘Tangled’. Wonder why?

LA Times did some research work and made clear a reason that we all had in mind – getting young boys to the theater. See, the word ‘Princess’ usually doesn’t appeal to the average young male and that may be why they avoided ‘The Princess and the Frog’.  So how do you fix something like that in your upcoming film also having a female protagonist? You change the title from a widely recognised ‘Rapunzel’ to a slightly generic ‘Tangled’ in hopes that kids don’t see deeper.

President of Pixar/Disney Ed Catmull says about the change:

“We did not want to be put in a box…Some people might assume it’s a fairy tale for girls when it’s not. We make movies to be appreciated and loved by everybody.”

Personally, it makes sense for Disney to try to broaden their demographics a little considering the film is a re-tooled version of the classic tale with a twist. But I really hope this doesn’t mean that no more films with female protagonists will be produced, because that is a bad decision right there if it happens.

But how come people still went in droves to see a movie titled ‘Alice in Wonderland’?
