ADFF 2011 Review: Trishna
Posted on: October 24, 2011
'Trishna' is a strong film that feels real to its roots despite being adapted from an English novel. The final act takes a few wrong turns, but Pinto's excellent performance and the filmmaker's strong grasp of the country makes it a successful effort.

ADFF 2011 Review: Pina
Posted on: October 23, 2011
'Pina' is must-see for anyone who enjoys dance. It's beautiful and breathtaking in technique, even though it lacks any sort of structure which mars the experience a little bit.

ADFF 2011 Review: Troll Hunter
Posted on: October 23, 2011
'Troll Hunter' is an effective movie that brings something new to not only the subgenre but to films in general, and I can see why Hollywood grabbed it quickly for a remake. It may be a little too Norwegian at times, but it's a wild ride nonetheless.

ADFF 2011 Review: Habemus Papus
Posted on: October 23, 2011
'Habemus Papus' seemed like the intentive and highly marketable film that could break into mainstream the way 'The King's Speech' did, but some odd plot decisions and an unfocused narrative means it's probably going to remain in the arthouse circuit only. But moments of great humor and acting make this worth the watch.

ADFF 2011 Review: Best Intentions
Posted on: October 23, 2011
'Best Intentions' has a story to tell, but chooses the wrong format to do so. As a twenty minute short, this would have been quality stuff. But as a hundred minute feature, it plods along without much activity and ends up being only above average fare.

ADFF 2011 Review: 18 Days
Posted on: October 23, 2011
Overall, '18 Days' is a successful indie film experiment and manages to showcase different aspects of the time period without becoming too heavy-handed. The omission of a few weak short films would have led to a more consistent product, but the stronger shorts more than compensate for it.

ADFF 2011 Review: Contagion
Posted on: October 23, 2011
Manages to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack by being an effectively realistic and grounded thriller that hooks the audience from the very beginning and goes deeper than most other virus thrillers do.
