Disney Is Set To Bring Back ‘Miss Marple’

Disney is set to make a modern day adaptation of Agatha Christie’s elderly heroine Miss Marple. The movie which will be scribed by Mark Frost is still looking for a Director.
The amateur detective grandmother has appeared in twelve novels and has had a number of television, radio and stage adaptations to her name.
Frost has specified that the film will be a modernized approach to the classic character and not a period based movie.
I have never personally read any Miss Marple adventures, but have watched countless book(graphic novels included) to movie adaptations fail.
In most cases the movie does not live up to the readers standards as it usually fails to capture the essence of the book.
To make it worse the reader has to endure annoying quips from fellow cinema goers stating “I have never read the book, but this movie was awesome”. My suggestion, if you’ve read the book don’t go close to this movie.
If you still feel a compulsion to watch it, call me over. I would then proceed to knocking you out and flushing 30 Dirhams of your hard earned money down the toilet. It would probably equate to the same experience of watching this movie.
Unless you have children, most of them find drooling amusing.
Was I too harsh or will Disney do a good job, whats your take?
Interstellar Kidnapping Afoot In New Movie ‘Lockout’

As a rabid fan of sci-fi movies and unrealistic violence (plasma bombs and so on), so when I read about the plot for the new movie Lockout I was a bit intrigued.
The plot revolves around a man who is wrongfully accused of conspiracy and has to rescue the presidents daughter from a predicament she has landed herself in.
Seems like an average plot until I read about the daughters said predicament… which involves a bunch of crazy space inmates!
Yes you read it right, a bunch of space inmates who are kept asleep by sophisticated methods until they suddenly awaken, causing all hell to break loose. How the presidents daughter ends up getting kidnapped is beyond my realm of understanding. (Space School field trip?)
(Pictured below are what crazy space inmates look like courtesy of Lost In Space, can you guess which one’s the craziest?)
Mounties Nab Jackass Prankster Steve-O

Any fan of the famed MTV show Jackass would instantly recognize comedian and stunt man Steve-O with just a glance at his back (he has tattooed portrait of himself on his back).
However Steve-O has had a recent run in with the law. In which country you may exclaim?
Well Canadian authorities have nabbed the recently rehabilitated comedian over an assault charge which occurred eight years ago.
According to E! Online the star had an outstanding arrest warrant over an assault charge, in which Steve-O had allegedly attacked an unknown person with an unknown object. Hmm sounds kinda mysterious to me.
However the case was brought before a court, who released him after he posted $10,000 bail in cold hard Canadian Cash. His next Canadian court appearance is set for May.
Anyone think he can back flip his way out of this one?

David Dobkin is set to Direct the remake of the classic comedy Uptown Saturday Nights. The remake will be scribed by Tim Dowling, and if true to the original will follow the misadventures of two small time hustlers who get robbed of a winning lottery ticket. The plot follows their attempt to find the ticket and make it to the big time at whatever cost (or lie).
The original was Directed by Sidney Poitier who also starred alongside Bill Cosby. The original movie was set in the early 1970′s and it is still unknown whether Dobkin will pursue a complete remake or will he decide to overhaul the story to fit our current day and age.

Dwayne Johnson has been set to play a father who goes undercover to free his son from a 30 year jail sentence. The story which is based around true events will be Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, who will also be writing the screenplay alongside Justin Haythe.
The true events to this tale were chronicled on a PBS “Frontline” documentary, where a father set up a sting operation on a bid to save his son. The action thriller will surely be right up Dwayne Johnson’s alley as long as there is less talking involved and more punching.
The movie set to beginning filming in June.

Just when innocent bystanders drew a sigh of relief believing that the scourge which was Twilight had seen its dying days, enter Vampire Academy.
Now to be a pessimist (or best known as a troll) and cast aside this movie as another Twilight would be wrong to the fans of the series which have sold well over 3.5 million within the United States copies and 1 million copies internationally.
Upon further research into Vampire Academy (I just Google image searched the name) I came upon this wonderful picture which immediately summed up the series for me and gave me mixed feeling of self accomplishment (I told you so) and sheer dread. Here comes another Twilight.

Disney’s Sinking The Yellow Submarine

Mars Needs Moms was the final nail in the coffin for Disney’s Beatles inspired animation, Yellow Submarine. Producer Robert Zemeckis introduced the project to Disney, but no progress has been made after its initial proposal. Mars Needs Moms, which cost Disney $150 million to produce, ended up making a paltry $6.9 million at the box office this weekend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter “(Yellow)Submarine was already facing a few rocky reefs before this weekend. There were budget issues, and a key presentation Zemeckis was to have made before the Beatles heirs kept being pushed back.”
Zemeckis’s plan was to use 16 Beatles songs in the film, while employing cutting-edge motion-capture technology to portray the members of the band.
The preferred motion capture animation style Zemeckis has used in his animated movies has been described as ‘Creepy’ or ‘Weird’ by many a movie goer. This was rumored to have raised concerns for Disney which led to the shutting down of Zemeckis’s ImageMovers Studio in May 2010.
Zemeckis has not yet announced if he is going to continue to search for a studio willing to produce the Yellow Submarine, or let the project rest at the bottom of his to-do list.
A Glimpse Of Baraka From The Upcoming Mortal Kombat Digital Series

Kevin Tancharoen, Director of the new Mortal Kombat digital series tweeted a small glimpse of Baraka (Mortal Kombat Character) from the film set in Vancouver. Fans are still divided on his realistic interpretation of the gaming franchise as it conflicts with the mysticism offered in the original gaming series.
As a fan of the gaming franchise I too am slightly conflicted by the concept of a more realistic approach to the series. The concept of dimensional travel does appeal to me which is true to the original, however this picture (which is awesome) gives me hope that the series is actually in production. The “Mortal Kombat” digital series, will star Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya) and Darren Shahlavi (Kano).
Brendan Fraser To Star In New Comedy ‘Whole Lotta Sola’

Bredan Fraser is set to star in Directos Terry George’s (Hotel Rwanda) new comedy Whole Lotta Sola. George has co-written the comedy with Thomas Gallagher which follows the story of a young man who attempts to rob a fishing shop as a means to pay off his gambling debts. The heist takes a hilarious turn for the worst, as the heist turns into a hostage situation.
Brendan Fraser assumes the role of the fishing shop owner, who gets involved in the young man’s fiasco. Fraser has had a track record of bad movies of late (Furry Vengeance and Extraordinary Measures were both horrendous movies) compared to his rise to fame with The Mummy series.
Fraser heading back into the ‘funny-action-hero’ role in Whole Lotta Sola is what I am anticipating and hopefully he wont fail to deliver.
