I don’t how the studios are operating on this film, but I smell trouble. Big trouble. After rumors that Sony is unhappy with ‘The Green Hornet’ (the studio called the rumors ‘garbage’), a move has finally been made that strongly suggests that truth to the rumor was evident after all.

Sony just announced that the Seth Rogen starring action comedy ‘The Green Hornet’, previously set to release during a competitive holiday season on December 22 2010, is now being pushed back to the next year for a January 14, 2011 release date. The reason? Do we even need to think? The film’s getting a 3-D conversion all of a sudden and the move was due to an already packed 3-D slate thanks to films like ‘Tron Legacy’ and ‘Yogi Bear’ among others.
The new date puts it on the January slate, famously known as the month where studio dumps all its trash from last year when the season is quiet. And looking at a complete lack of promotional material or buzz for the film, looks like that’s whats happening with the film here. I love director Michael Gondry’s work and he is said to be involved with the 3-D conversion but it looks to be a desperate attempt by Sony to salvage the film.
Any thoughts on this sudden move?
