Oscar-Winning Akiva Goldsman Directing ‘Paranormal Activity 2′?

Did Lionsgate do a mistake by taking back director Kevin Greutert from directing Paranormal Activity 2 to Saw VII? Because if the following is true, Paramount has nabbed something much higher. And he holds a golden statuette.

Shock Till You Drop reports that Paramount may have found the film’s new director in the form of Akiva Goldsman, an Oscar winning writer of ‘A Beautiful Mind’, ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘The DaVinci Code’ among others. As for directing, he’s directed TV before but not a feature.

Personally, directing a sequel to a $11,000 film that has ‘Blair Witch 2′ written all over it is a marked step down career-wise simply because there’s nothing new they can possibly do with the story. Want proof?

MTV reports that Michael Stout (the male lead of the first film) may be returning to the film. Anyone who has seen the movie knows what happened to him and I leave it up to you to explain how that can ever be possible.

Even though the series is getting stale, I’d rather watch Saw VII 3-D any day.
