After the grand opening weekend of ‘Alice in Wonderland’, it’s clear that 3-D is here to stay and Hollywood is adopting it as fast as they can. Even established directors are.

Shadowlocked reports that Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Blade Runner) will be going for 3-D for his upcoming prequel to his own classic ‘Alien’. Says the art director Roger Christian:
“Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there’s ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I’m hoping he’ll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it – everybody.”
Originally, Scott was set to produce the project with a new director helming but then Fox decided to only greenlight the film is Scott himself was to take the reins. That pushed him to take it up himself which was a great (if risky) move by a director of his standards.
But does Alien need 3-D?
