Weekly Posters: Dreadful New Poster For ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’

Well, it had to happen. After two great posters and trailers, ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ remake finally gets a bad piece of promotional material in the form of this new poster.

Freddy Krueger returns in A Nightmare on Elm Street, a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape
Let’s dissect this – the fact that Freddy is standing ominously in the hallway isn’t bad at all. In fact, it looks kind of creepy. But what ruins it? The inclusion of the clearly photo-shopped melting girl in a very awkward position that has no place here. What is this poster trying to say anyway (other than they need better artists)? The girl is sinking so calmly in the water and Freddy is waiting in the background? I doubt I’ve seen a worse poster for a remake.
Which is a shame, since the last two were brilliant.
